Newshosting Newsreader Release
Newshosting, the recognized leader in global Usenet newsgroup access, announces the release of its newest browser version, v1.4.0. The most significant feature of this upgrade is the automatic search function; this new search functionality is designed to deliver a better Usenet experience than ever before to Newshosting subscribers worldwide.
The new automatic search feature allows searches to be performed on an hourly basis by the software in the background. This feature will display all new results for automatic searches and they can also be set to download. Options for the automatic downloads allow the user to limit the amount of traffic caused by automatic downloads per day, week or month. Search results of automatic searches can be restricted to specific file sizes and media categories as well as the ability to set start and end dates for the active searches.
Newshosting v1.4.0 supports Windows 8 and Mac OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion, ensuring that the Newshosting browser is optimized for the next generation of operating systems. Other key upgrades include: optimized auto-sizing of columns, switching between search providers in the settings dialog, message tool window is now closeable and displays upon receiving new messages and Linux-64 bit is now supported automatically. Users of 64-bit Linux no longer have to install compatibility libraries. Together, this suite of upgrades further leverages the award-winning Newshosting browser as the leading newsreader on the market.
Gradually throughout the next week users on all Newshosting plans, including the 14-day/30 GB free trial will be prompted to upgrade to the new Newshosting browser. However you can get the upgrade immediately by logging into the control panel, clicking on ‘Download the Newshosting Newsgroup Reader‘ and following the prompts for your specific operating system. This announcement also comes just after Newshosting hitting a major retention milestone of 1700+ days of NTTP retention. Newsgroup retention is the length of time that a newsgroup post is available to subscribers. 1700 days of retention means that Newshosting subscribers can access posts that were added to Usenet newsgroups up to 1700 days ago, with 99% completion.
